Topic > Elite Athlete and World Anti-Doping Agency

To be considered an elite athlete, you must have the best time, speed, agility and endurance. You must be able to perform above average and you must be able to crush your opponent; after all, there is no second best. Unfortunately, the pressure of being the champion is forcing many athletes around the world to turn to supplements to achieve this goal. The problem is that some of these supplements have little research to back them up or are completely illegal. Thus completing the journey towards perfection, which is very dangerous and insidious. This problem is now found all over the world, especially in endurance sports; and the quick fix seems to be blood doping. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, which handles all doping cases, it identifies blood doping as the use of various methods to enhance athletic performance by increasing the blood's ability to carry oxygen to the muscles. Since there are a number of different types and methods, WADA has recognized the frequency of use of these three main types and methods. The three main methods and types used are: blood transfusion, erythroprotein injection, and synthetic oxygen carrier injection. When using blood transfusion, athletes have two options: use their own blood or someone else's blood compatible with their blood. or your own blood type. If the athlete decides to use his own blood, it is called autologous transfusion. In which the athlete draws blood and stores it for a few weeks while his body replenishes the lost blood. As the competition approaches, they receive a transfusion of their stored blood. In this way, the red blood cells double, which in turn will bring them to the optimal level for... paper attacks... t, phlebitis or even septicemia. Additionally, these healthy athletes may become susceptible to blood-borne pathogens such as HIV or hepatitis. Yet they don't care, as long as this method makes them have fun forgetting that if they are not healthy, they cannot perform at all. With all the harmful side effects, I don't think doping should become legal. Additionally, there are legal methods to promote the increase of red blood cells that are legal and do not harm the body as much. This includes living at higher altitudes than normal and competing at low (or normal) altitudes. In my opinion, I don't think the ends justify the means. Most athletes who use doping as a performance enhancer get a moment of light, which is then overshadowed by getting caught. So, not only do they look bad for cheating, but they also look like fools for harming their bodies.
