With the rapid rise in temperature in recent years, climate change has become a thorny issue challenging countries around the world. Global warming has directly exposed people to risks, and the trend of global greenhouse gas emissions and associated climate change will continue. (Alistair Hunt and Paul Watkiss 2011, p1). Climate change can be defined as a long-lasting fluctuation in the Earth's climate, especially a change caused by rising temperatures. The continuous increase in temperature has devastating effects on urban areas. This essay outlines the negative effects caused by global warming and evaluates three environmentally friendly solutions to the problems. The essay argues that climate change has caused significant damage to coastlines, air quality and human health, and that these issues must be addressed immediately. There are various disastrous outcomes of climate change. First, global warming accelerates sea level rise, causing serious losses in people's lives. For example, Munbai, Sherbinin et al. (2006) cite TERI (1996) who estimates that a 1 million increase would result in damages of $71 billion without dams, reduced to $33 billion with dams. Additionally, sea levels are rising faster than ever, threatening coastal cities and causing coastal erosion. Secondly, polluted air is another concern. With rapid urban growth, greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere come mainly from motor vehicles. Smog, heat pollution are not phenomena that exist only in urban areas. They also affect the rural ecosystem, reducing agricultural land (Ashmore 2005) and generating tornadoes. Third, health risks are affected by climate change. Indeed, UNFPA (2007, Chapter 5) states that without adequate sanitation… middle of paper… international talks not only help these countries gain more experience, but also allow them to better adapt to the global crisis. heating. In conclusion, climate change leads to three major costly effects: sea level rise, air pollution and health problems. This essay explored three solutions: reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving infrastructure for the poor, and working together internationally to fight climate change. Adopting a new policy to impose restrictions on cars or adopting a greener lifestyle to reduce car use would be beneficial to the environment. Additionally, providing basic services to poor residents helps protect them from climate change. More importantly, international efforts are needed to address climate change. Consequently, everyone should take responsibility for mitigating the effects of this global problem.
