The town of Ribbleton is located on a relatively flat piece of land located along the River Ribble in England. The city climate remains stable at a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, which is typical for a city with this location. Many days in Ribbleton are cloudy and rainy, which adds to the low temperature. 50,000 reside in this city, so transportation is a key factor. Almost half of the world's population lives in cities, so it is important that these people are able to move around them easily; whether it is due to cars, bicycles or trains. Most of the problems cities have with transportation involve traffic, the environment, and the capacity that transportation can hold. These problems occur in all towns, including Ribbleton, but engineers have found solutions to fix them. One of these solutions is a Straddle Bus. The Straddle Bus is a means of mass transportation that essentially "straddles" the road. It is meant for cars to pass, but as Ribbleton does not use cars due to the environmental impact they cause, bicycles are the alternative. This infrastructure has a futuristic design because while in 2013 there are buses and roads, there is currently no bus that actually straddles the roadway allowing vehicles to pass underneath it. Ribbleton also has passenger trains which run on underground tracks. These trains do not follow or parallel the roadways above, but rather offer less direct routes for passengers. The Straddle Bus aligns with major roads for a more direct travel route. One of Ribbleton's many problems includes a way for mass transit, but the Straddle Bus solves this problem.
