Testimony When we meet a Holocaust survivor, many questions come to mind. We begin to wonder how they managed to survive. We tend to assume that once the Holocaust ended, the survivors began to re-establish their lives and their pain disappeared. However, Holocaust survivors suffered, and even 70 years after liberation, Holocaust survivors continue to encounter difficulties in their daily lives. In the years following the Holocaust they struggled with their painful memories as they attempted to renew their lives, most of them in new countries. The Holocaust was one of the greatest massacres against humanity. As time passes, the memories of Holocaust survivors begin to fade. The obligation to remember is engraved on every Holocaust memorial, but eventually even the words “Do not forget” become worn out. Fearing that future generations will forget the Holocaust, these survivors bear witness to it in many ways. One of the ways Holocaust survivors bore witness was through literature and education. Literally thousands of books have been written about Holocaust experiences, many of them by eyewitnesses and victims. Virtually all Holocaust literature is moving and important, as the Holocaust is one of the most significant experiences in world history. Of all the works on the Holocaust, those of Primo Levi, an Italian Jew who survived the Holocaust, are among the most powerful. Primo Levi was born in Turin on 13 July 1919; he committed suicide, also in Turin, on 11 April 1987. The experiences of Jews in fascist Italy were not immediately comparable to those of Nazi Germany. Levi suffered from anti-Semitism at school, although still nothing compared to Nazi Germany. He was teased in school... middle of paper... continuing. As mentioned above, talking about the Holocaust was not as easy as it seems. Some Holocaust survivors recalled the silence until other Holocaust survivors began sharing their stories. In conclusion, the Holocaust was a time period that shaped our world history. It's an example of something the world let happen. Despite the fact that the entire world knows about the Holocaust, this has not stopped other nations from committing genocide. The Holocaust should be an example for the whole world to unite and fight these evil governments that try to take advantage of innocent people. However, history belongs to the past, which is why Holocaust survivors left their mark on history, so we can always remember the Holocaust. Only a few survivors remember alive in today's society, so it is important that a way to preserve their memory remains alive.
