Michelangelo by Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni better known as Michelangelo is one of the greatest artistic geniuses of the Italian Renaissance or who lived for it, some of his works include his sculpture of David, ceiling paintings of Sistine Chapel and also the Pietà. Michelangelo was born in Caprese, Italy, in 1475 to Leonardo di Buonarrota Simoni and Francesca Neri. At the time of his birth Michelangelo's father was a magistrate in the city of Caprese but moved with his family to Florence shortly after Michelangelo's birth. Years after their departure for Florence, his mother fell seriously ill, forcing Michelangelo to live with a stonemason and his family in Settignano; his mother later died from the disease. Later Michelangelo was sent to Florence for school but he was more interested in art, seeing this Michelangelo's father decided to enroll him in the Florentine painters' workshop to begin his apprenticeship there he worked under Francesco da Urbino. Francesco da Urbino was not only Michelangelo's tutor, but he was also an artist known above all for his religious paintings, one in particular was "The Judgment of Solomon". There Michelangelo was exposed to all the techniques that would advance his passion for more than just art. but also his skill. After staying in the workshop for no more than a year, Michelangelo was referred by his friend to Lorenzo, the magnificent exponent of the Medici family, the most powerful and richest family in Florence, who shortly after moved to his palace to study classical sculpture. During the period between the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century the Medici family held Florence in its hands, having political and financial power thanks to its banking activities and...... middle of paper ......chelangelo took the place and enhanced the vision of the previous artist and made it his own. The painting was completed only after Michelangelo's death. It has not been proven that Michelangelo was ever married or even if he had a love interest in his writings, he often expressed his life as a loner and wanted nothing more than to be just that. People around him often saw him working more than he slept or even ate and viewed events as a chore for him rather than a pleasure. After his death Michelangelo was still highly praised for his work and still remains a positive influence for the artist to look at his ideas, his knack for human anatomy and emphasis on human emotions is what made so many people gravitated towards him. well known for his paintings and sculptures Michelangelo was also known as a great poet.
