Why is nanotechnology used? My group topic is nanotechnology and my sub topic is; why is nanotechnology used? Nanotechnology is a relatively new form of technology that uses the smallest particles to improve everyday objects. It is currently making progress in all kinds of fields, from the human body to sports to green energy. Our health is being improved by creating cancer-killing nanorobots and antibacterial patches. The batteries in our phones, laptops and cars are getting smaller, just as green energy is becoming more efficient. Nanotechnology is becoming cheaper for the common person and is the future of microscopic technology to make our daily life simpler, healthier and more efficient. A.) Nanotechnology is impacting ordinary people through the use of antibacterial nanomaterials. The patches are able to contain a greater abundance of antibacterial nanoparticles, allowing them to be more effective at wound healing. In particular, silver is used for its antibacterial properties and works well, due to the increased surface area provided by the nanoparticles (Dutton, 2012). Together with the patches, the sunscreen is enriched with aluminum oxide, which absorbs sunlight. When aluminum oxide is placed in a nanosolution, it does not degrade when it comes into contact with sunlight, so the anti-UV properties of aluminum oxide remain intact. Another use of nanotechnology that affects us every day is in our toothpaste. Some types of toothpaste contain calcium and silver nanoparticles. These particles help fill cracks in the tooth enamel, preventing tooth decay. This nanotechnology will also kill bacteria… middle of paper… carbon dioxide emissions. Nanotechnology is helping green energy become cheaper and more efficient, which helps our air be less polluted by greenhouse gases. Every day, our lives are improved through new, advanced forms of technology, especially nanotechnology. Scientists are using nanomaterials and nanoparticles to make everything from cell phone batteries to nanorobots to improve the quality of our lives. Our health is improving thanks to the antibacterial properties of some nanoparticles and small robots that can travel through our bloodstream. Our earth is also benefiting from this technology, with the increasing efficiency of batteries and green energy. Nanotechnology is changing every aspect of our lives and its future will take us places and create new products we never imagined.
