The original idea of this work was researching the features of SolidWorks and was started in 2014. The author decided to develop some other ideas based on his research and suggestions to implement useful features from some other popular CAD and 3D modeling software to show what could be improved in SolidWorks. Get an original essay The author's original research contained some old data taken from articles in Russian magazines for the year 2005 and from his personal experience. The author later modified his sources to websites on CAD, 3D modeling and animation to be updated with modern features and improvements in software packages. The basic method was to compare the features of different software packages with SolidWorks and merge them with the latter. Features needed to be described and explained to understand why they would be useful in SolidWorks. In the first decade of the 20th century, before the mass computerization of production, production required a lot of human resources, because humanity had to carry out most of the process manually, starting with technical documentation and ending with recycling the product. Eventually, production volumes grew as did production speed and product complexity. For this reason the production staff included hundreds of people. When the computer appeared, it was almost immediately incorporated into agriculture, medicine, military, and social industry because of its practical advantages. Initially, the processes used in the manufacturing sector were quite slow, but thanks to them people could save a lot of time and human resources, thanks to the automation of some processes. With the growth of the trend towards computer integration, the first computer-aided design (CAD) systems appeared, capable of automating the entire production cycle, from technical documentation to the production process. Today, the world's industry uses so many CAD systems that you cannot find any company, factory or construction office that would not use CAD. This worldwide integration has led to the creation of complex CAD software that includes several types of functionality at once. Mostly in such software you can find different volumetric modeling and rapid testing systems. It is obvious that several companies participate in the development of this type of software to supply the global industry. One of the giants in this industry is Dassault Corporation with its software – SolidWorks. In December 1995 the unknown American company SolidWorks Corporation developed the first version of the 3D modeling package – SolidWorks 95. Over the next 23 years, 25 new versions of the created program were released, more than 3.5 million copies were sold which they are used in numerous project organizations and universities. Throughout its existence, SolidWorks has accomplished enormous work, transforming a medium-level modeling system, which it was in 1995, into a complex CAD, one of the most elite parametric modeling systems in the world. Hundreds of innovations and new technological solutions, first invented in SolidWorks has become a "classic" in CAD application development over the last 20 years and is now used by the majority of CAD developers around the world. SolidWorks Corp. was first created in 1993. Since the new version of a software package developed in 1995, SolidWorks has become a center of attention for CAD analysts. They were the first to realize the flood3D modeling software features in Microsoft Windows. Before that, such developments were only made in the Unix operating system, where they were used for decades. Nowadays, Unix-like CAD software has become the past, bringing applications to Windows. In 1997 SolidWorks Corp. was included in the IT holding Dassault Systemes, and to this day analysts evaluate this purchase as one of the most successful strategic solutions for Dassault. SolidWorks is one of the most popular and widely used 3D modeling packages today, including a wide range of integrated solutions CAE/CAM/PDM modules and over 500 specialized applications. Since 1998 each new version is developed in 15 languages. The world standard of CAD SolidWorks is a system of automatic projection, engineering analysis and preparation of products of any difficulty and purpose for production. SolidWorks Corp. developments are known for the high level of quality, reliability and productivity, not to mention a skilled support team, which makes SolidWorks one of the best solutions for the industry. SolidWorks complex solutions are based on high-level hybrid parametric modeling technologies and the broad spectrum of specialized modules. SolidWorks industrial integration allows you to shorten the entire production cycle and lower costs. Traditionally, CAD systems are focused on creating geometric models of products from geometric primitives, and most of the time working with such systems is spent on selecting elements of the required types and, most importantly, choosing the optimal sequence of their creation. Special software products are used to perform engineering or technological analyses, the results of which are corrected, and sometimes substantially so. The creators of SolidWorks began to implement the system elements of an expert system designed to reduce the amount of work needed by the designer for the CAD system as a tool to minimize costs and suboptimal sequence of work on the model, typical of existing parametric CAD systems. The SolidWorks software package profoundly develops this approach. The SolidWorks software package is largely based on SolidWorks Intelligent Feature Technology, abbreviated SWIFT. This complex is an embedded expert system that allows from the early design stages with a high degree of automation to solve the project optimization problem. These engineering and rapid analyzes (strength, aeromechanics, kinematics and dynamics of mechanisms) and manufacturability analyzes (applied to plastic machining or molding requirements) and due diligence compliance selected electronic document standards, as well as dimensional chain analyses, collection of checks products look for conflicts, automatic sizing and process notation, and even automatically create a new design based on an existing one on a set of formal parameters. 3D CAD is the basic and most used tool in the package and this thesis is mainly about its features. As the name suggests, it allows for a user-friendly experience in solid modeling. It is mainly used by engineers and designers, while architects prefer another Dassault Systemes program: CATIA. 3D CAD allows you to create both 2D and 3D designs. A range of tools can help the engineer reuse existing 3DCAD models and 2D drawings, speeding up the design process, saving development time and costs, and increasing productivity. One of the common requirements for any engineering project is a drawing. Solidworks 3D CAD connects a 2D drawing directly with a 3D solid model, so that the.
