Now that the country has been attacked from the outside, anyone entering the country will be subjected to intense scrutiny until it is deemed safe. This is really the only way people can come to the United States anymore. After the events of September 11, the government no longer wants to take risks. All new people who arrive will study so as not to pose a threat to our national security. President George W. Bush signed the USA PATRIOT Act to make, for the first time in America's history, a concrete change in who would come to this country. The Patriot Act was put in place in 2001 with the purpose of infiltrating the lives of Americans because according to the government they could no longer be trusted. The acronym USA PATRIOT Act is uniting and strengthening America by providing the proper tools needed to intercept and thwart terrorism (USA PATRIOT Act). For once the United States finally had a big impact on immigration to the United States, but the way they did it was not appreciated by all immigrants, of course, and in fact it was not entirely favorable by citizens either Americans.
