Burning fossil fuels like coal and oil is not the only way people improve the climate. Since the industrial era, global climate change has been increasing. Industrial factories constantly burn fossil fuels and add carbon to the atmosphere. The amount of greenhouse gases accumulated in the atmosphere has accelerated the Earth's natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is “the trapping of the sun's heat in the lower atmosphere of a planet due to the atmosphere's greater transparency to visible radiation from the sun compared to infrared radiation emitted by the planet's surface.” Due to constant man-made pollution, the greenhouse effect is occurring faster than usual. Climate change has had many impacts around the world and the evidence of this is very clear. An example of the impact of climate change on the earth is rising sea levels. As planet Earth is slowly warming due to greenhouse gases, glaciers and ice sheets around the world are melting, adding more water to the oceans. Over the last century, global water levels have risen nearly 7 inches. In a quote from “A Student's Guide” they say: “If people continue to add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, the average sea level worldwide by the end of this century (the year 2099) could be between 7 and 23 inches higher than in 1990. Sea levels could rise even more if large ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica melt
