Hamlet: Horatio's speech to Fortinbras Sir Fortinbras and noble knights of the Norwegian army, I stand before you today to tell the story of a martyr hero to whom we must remember. Hamlet be your name. He was a friend and a leader. About eight months ago Hamlet was upset, I had never seen him like that before. He had a good excuse, I mean his father had just died, his mother, God rest her soul, remarried not even a month later. Hamlet's relationship with Ophilia was diminishing in his giant fire of emotions. Ophilia was the daughter of the king's servant. The king's servant was Polonius. Polonius did not want Ophilia with Hamlet, nor Ophilia's brother Laertes. Hamlet was under a lot of pressure, but that wasn't the case until some guards and I saw a ghost we thought was Hamlet's late father. This was the point of all our lives when you took one path or another, each taking you in a completely different direction. Hamlet came with us to the watchtower the next night and argued on our behalf that the ghost actually perpetuated King Hamlet's appearance. The ghost signaled Hamlet to follow me and we grabbed him. Please don't follow Sir Hamlet, I begged him. The spirit was insistent, and Hamlet's gut instinct drove him to follow the floating omen. I don't know the exact words the ghost spoke that night, but from what I understand, he had returned from the dead to inform his son that he had not died from the alleged snake bite. King Hamlet's brother, the present King Claudius, had killed him as he lay in the garden by pouring poison into his ear. The ghost also informed Hamlet of an affair his mother had been having with Claudius. This bit of information stunned and enraged Hamlet if you will. Hamlet didn't know what to believe. After all, for all we knew, the ghost could easily have been the devil himself. After that night Hamlet had a lot of trouble keeping himself holy, or so it seemed to me. He only hurt Ophilia because the king and Polonius framed Hamlet by using his beautiful and willing daughter as bait. I found out later that the cunning scoundrel was only acting to show incompetence towards the revenge plot that was unfolding in his head.
