Children also learn that rules can be changed and see what the world is like through the eyes of others. I am able to accept that there may be more than one right answer. Even at this stage, children focus on living up to social expectations and roles derived from family and other relationships. Good behavior means they will have good motivations and interpersonal feelings such as love, empathy, trust, and concern for others with whom they form relationships. Phase 4 gives the same answer as phase 1, the similarity is that they both think that if you do something wrong you are breaking the law. The difference between stage 4 and stage 1 is that the child/adolescent can deliberate the answers now compared to when they were in stage 1 when they were unable to explain.
