Perspectives on Veterinarians in Today's World Pets are becoming not just a pet but a true member of the family. Anyone who has a pet should take their pet to a veterinarian to ensure that it will live a happy and healthy life. Have you ever wondered exactly what a vet does during the day? I can assure everyone that the life of a veterinarian is not as easy as it may seem. Veterinarians must care for sick and healthy animals. Not only do they have to diagnose the problems that animals suffer from, but they also have to treat them. Veterinarians must also administer preventive drugs to animals especially in the early stages of the animals' life, but also check-ups. Animals, just like humans, need to be tested if necessary or x-rayed if necessary. When animals require surgery of any kind, veterinarians perform the surgery with the assistance of their technicians. When animals undergo surgery, a veterinarian is also the one who has to administer anesthesia to them for the surgeries and he is responsible for waking them up, requiring a lot of caution. Not all of a veterinarian's work is hands-on. Part of their job is to provide information to pet owners over the phone when needed. For example, childbirth, nutrition, abnormal behavior or husbandry are all topics where a veterinarian may need to assist pet owners (news guidance publications). Just as a doctor is for a human being, a veterinarian is for an animal. Only animals cannot speak, so a veterinarian must be able to observe normal and abnormal behaviors of animals. All veterinarians have a list of different tasks that occupy their working hours on a day-to-day basis. No day will ever repeat itself twice! Veterinary school is very rigorous and time consuming, to say the least. Every college student... middle of paper... in every clinic and every employee is on the same page and everyone knows at all times what is going on. The job prospects for the field are exceptional and will always be reassuring for anyone taking up this career. Not only is the field of veterinary medicine continually growing, but the salaries that veterinarians earn each year will also continue to grow due to experience and the growth in the number of pets per household in today's world. Animals are becoming more and more like family members for most modern families and they think that it is necessary that all animals receive proper attention and care. All in all this career is a very positive and interesting field to pursue. I think anyone with a passion for all types of animals should definitely look into it. The field of veterinary medicine certainly has a strong backbone and will always need one.
