Topic > A Good Leader - 714

The responsibilities of a leader are very demanding. One of the biggest responsibilities a leader will have is to inform his subordinates about the dangers of drug use. A leader must know his people and be able to trust his men to complete a mission or carry out a simple task without the fear or doubt that something is preventing his men from being successful. Drugs will cause the downfall of a leader and can lead to situations where human life is sacrificed. another responsibility that a leader has is to uphold the standard of the unit and not set bad examples and ultimately this will result in the fall of his respect. another aspect that a good leader should have and demonstrate is that of a good citizen. leadership should represent the highest level of citizenship. Being a good citizen means obeying the laws of the community you live in and even enforcing them to some extent. Drug use is illegal nationwide and therefore a leader is not setting a good example or being a good citizen if he or she participates in the use, sale or association with drugs. A leader should not order or tell his subordinates to do something that he cannot do or cannot do himself. If a leader explains the risks of using drugs and why not to use them or be associated with them, he or she should follow his or her advice. This leads directly to how to communicate with your subordinates about how not to and why not to use drugs. When presenting something, he or she should exploit all possible resources available. A leader's responsibility is to inform his or her staff of necessary information. The leader, however, must present the information in such a way that the attention of the people receiving it does not get bored and that they get the information in a way that is not confusing but is very clear and precise. If the individual presenting the information does not know much about the information that will be presented, they will need to do some research. a leader should be even more familiar with the information that will be covered than his subordinates. Using available resources such as videotapes, brochures or charts are a great way to present information clearly and accurately.
