“Postpartum depression (PPD) is a major form of depression and is less common than postpartum depression. PPD includes all the symptoms of depression but occurs only after giving birth. stated by William Beardslee, MD, is the Academic Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Boston Children's Hospital and Gardner Monks Professor of Child Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. After looking into and seeing what many mothers and young teen mothers face in what seems like an everyday one begins to wonder what really goes on behind closed doors with these mothers. What are they really like when it's just them and their baby? How do they behave with certain people (family, friends and neighbors)? How was pregnancy for them? What is it like to know that they no longer have freedom but more responsibility in their hands? What do they really feel inside and not what they are representing on the outside? These and many other questions cross people's minds when they see these women and their children. What is it like being a mom? How do you need to change your life to meet your child's needs? One can only hope to get a real answer from these mothers. It makes you think more about what you say or how you behave around them. You could easily offend these mothers and mothers-to-be. We don't know what it really means to be in their shoes and face the daily challenges that await them. They may look strong on the outside and put on a brave stance for all to see, but how do they really feel on the inside? How many suicide attempts have you had since giving birth? Was the thought unpleasant and harmful to the child? We won't really know until we ask and actually get to the bottom of the matter. ...... half of the paper ...... m http://abcnews.to.com/US/Depression/story?id=92935Dawn, K. (June 20, 2012).
