This was after the war ended and the veterans were rewarded. While on the battlefront, they fought on equal terms, performing largely similar roles. Despite complaints from some blacks who cited excessive white dominance in leadership positions, all felt they had played an instrumental role in the war's success. To that end, they tried to get involved in anything else that would come in the form of goodies in the same capacity as white people. The problems began when blacks were not properly rewarded after the war with the same role as whites. They were not given the opportunity to have homes like their white counterparts.
