Pharmacy: where serving others is the key to success“Those who believe in the importance of serving others should lead the way by fighting against the temptation we all have, and perhaps, especially as we age, to close ourselves in." While many look to the pharmacy, an important point is considering how much they go out of their way to help others in need. With this career, the pharmacist's goal is to assist those who cannot help themselves. Additionally, there are many other responsibilities that come with this career. A pharmacist serves patients by dispensing medications to the public, providing drug information to healthcare providers, selling over-the-counter medications in community businesses, and much more. These responsibilities come from a desire to push and tackle the many difficult tasks associated with this career. When looking into the field of pharmacy, many details are needed to understand the job, such as history, educational background, and on-the-job activities, including the benefits and risks this job entails. As time goes by, pharmacy is taking on an important role in healthcare society as well as many other roles that it must continue to fill. Along with the tasks that pharmacists examine today, the origin of the career dates back to the early 17th century. century. Since King James I founded Western society's first independent guild of pharmacists in England in the 17th century, pharmacy has played a central role in health care (Zebroski 1). The word pharmacy itself dates back to the Greeks. In Aristotle's time, workers who prepared medicines were known as pharmakons. Despite the requirements needed to obtain the reward of becoming a pharmacist, many are steps taken including the good and bad of what could happen. A student must be willing to stay focused and manage time in order to complete this extended task. As the story continues to tell, time passes but workers can still look back on what once was. The pharmacy has existed for many years and continues to grow with new training courses, activities and tasks linked to when it began. Additionally, the benefits are becoming more rewarding as time goes on and still allow for a greater reward than ever before. With the dangers this job entails, the risk is also becoming higher, but the benefits outweigh those when taken into consideration. In this century, pharmacy has become one of the six major occupations and continues to increase as time goes by.
