Information is the trigger that makes virtually everything happen in the business world. Processes are started, executed and terminated based on the information. Sometimes information is intrinsic, nothing new needs to be communicated for something to happen. More often, processes “wait” for information before something can begin. For appropriate action to be taken, information must have three characteristics.[bullets]It must be timely, accurate and must be available to anyone who needs it. All other things being equal, the company can be timely and accurate information in the right hands at the right time will have an advantage over competitors and the opportunity to optimize the cost structure.
