A look into the eyes of a nurse“Doing what no one else will do, a way no one else can do, despite everything we go through; it is to be a nurse.”- Rawsi Williams “Nurses help individuals, families and groups achieve health and prevent disease, and care for the sick and injured, using procedures based on knowledge, skill and experience.” I am so fascinated by everything a nurse practitioner can experience. I know that the journey I have to take to slowly become a nurse will be worth my time and money. Becoming a nurse practitioner (NP) comes with health benefits, lots of responsibilities, minimal education, and a good-sized salary. The history of nursing did not develop until the nineteenth century. The first law was passed in 1938 to require nurses to obtain a license. After passing this law, New York State began a movement to have some programs that promised new standards in the field. Since the first schools opened, training and criteria have changed enormously. Nurse education standards have improved in many different ways. Programs are an option across the country, and there are laws to support qualification and training standards for licensure. The nursing field plays an important role as part of the healthcare team and can benefit them in so many ways. The history of nurses has changed from minor to major occupation. In today's society, people rely on nurses, doctors and specialists more than ever. Nurses have brightened our future in the most beneficial way (Hopke 592). According to the article Who Np's Are and What They Do, more than ninety percent of nurse education programs at colleges and universities impart the... paper center ......the reality of the real world and that we they are difficult situations that a nurse must face, such as not being able to improve a person in need. I discovered things I never knew about a nurse. It really helped me understand that to be a nurse you really have to dedicate yourself to the patients you see. That day I realized that a nurse is more than just a job. I want to study this occupation while I attend college and hope to continue with the next steps to fully become a nurse practitioner. I think it will benefit me in all the ways I have seen it benefit its patients. After researching and learning all the new information about this profession, I now know that an NP is a worthy and very necessary job in our country and I know that, given the opportunity and time, I can achieve all the goals I will set for myself in my future in to become a certified nurse practitioner.
