Because the number of males with trauma from neglect in the criminal justice system is significant, some programs have been implemented to help juveniles who are not in the system and those who are in the system currently. One program, “Regulating the Effects of Trauma: A Guide for Education and Therapy (TARGET),” has been implemented in criminal justice settings. TARGET is a “10-session manualized treatment and prevention intervention for traumatized adolescents,” adolescents are provided with steps to follow to manage their trauma-related actions (Marrow, 2012, p 260). “A study conducted by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Programs,” found that TARGET showed significant effectiveness in helping young coupes overcome their traumas; in fact the success rate of the program is “77% compared to 53% for relationship therapy” (Marrow, 2012, p 60). With the help of this program and many others, we could see a decrease in the number of juveniles in criminal justice
