Book Report I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya AngelouSection I1. In the lyrics "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" a young black girl grows up surrounded by racism. The presence of the author Maya Angelou and the way she described every detail with great passion is very interesting. In the book, Maya and Bailey move to many places, including Stamps, Arkansas; St. Louis, Missouri; and San Francisco, California. Maya comes to these places and many things happen to her and the people she knows. He tries to hold on to all the good memories and get rid of the bad ones, but new ones come. That's why this book is very interesting. Keeps readers on the edge of their seats.2. At the beginning of the book the Maya and Bailey moved to a place called Stamps. They moved in with their grandmother. He owns the store in the middle of the black part of Stamps. During the cotton picking season, grandmother gets up at four in the morning to bring lunch to the people picking cotton. In the second chapter the young girl falls in love with William Shakespeare's epic reading. Then later mom (aka grandma) found out that a black man had messed with the white women and the white men were furious. When people say Maya is ugly, her sister steps in and attacks the people who say so.3. A reverend comes to Mom's house once a month to discuss the ceriman but everyone hates him because he eats the best part of Sunday dinner. Later in the book Maya is raped and sexually molested by Mr. Freeman. After Maya became ill, the trousers she had been raped in were found and Mr Freeman went to prison but got out that night. After the trial Maya and Bailey were sent back to Stamps to live with their grandmother again. Maya goes to someone to help her talk, because after being raped she didn't talk.4. Bailey was late for dinner and was beaten. Bailey said he was looking at a white actress who looked just like her mom. He made a commercial for the film and they had to wait for it to come out to see it again. In the next chapter in church people start to organize a party so that people can have some relief from their difficult lives.
