Adult EducationEducation can be defined as an education program of a specific type or level. In today's society, education is essential for economic and social success. Most people begin their education very early in life with elementary school, with the hope or intent of attending and graduating from high school, and furthermore going to college and earning a college degree. At the same time, this step-by-step educational process is a rather new idea, as recently as twenty-five years ago people only needed education in particular skills and work fields not only to get a job, but also not to have to worry to be fired. two weeks later. With the globalization of world markets through the introduction of information technology, or IT, the educational process has changed dramatically. The Baby-Boomer generation was the last generation to experience and believe in the “American-Dream” lifestyle. Now many adults of that generation, and the ones that followed, are finding that their education simply won't cut it in today's job market. The Adult Education Standards and Definitions describe that participation in adult education programs is defined as “the participation of adults in one or more organized learning events of more than six hours in any area. According to this definition, adults are all persons over the age of 16, except those between 16 and 25 years of age who continue their initial formal education full time and without any interruption” (Belanger ix). No person can succeed by working hard at their job unless they work hard to continue their education and keep up with the rapid technological developments required by their employer.
