Men are often described as strong, caring and loyal. In fact, Macbeth himself describes a man as someone who has integrity and self-control. I believe he is a mediocre man because, according to Roots Of Machismo by Martin Daly and Margo Wilson, he sometimes fits the description of what a man should be. He does not quite portray what is expected of a man of Machismo and also fails to fit the description of a man expressed by both him and Lady Macbeth. He doesn't like taking risks and has little interest in social hierarchy. He was not guided by free will or fate when he killed King Duncan and Banquo, but rather by Lady Macbeth's persuasive and misleading words as "one who gives in to every wish or whim he has, and gets what he wants, regardless of the consequences." That said, it does occasionally describe the qualities required to be classified as what a real male should look like. Another theory of Darwin that is not mentioned in Machismo is natural selection which explains how the characteristics of species begin to die out because they are not strong enough to resist the surrounding environment....
