While interviewing Mrs. Kimyetta Green, the director/teacher of Lee's Cuddles 'N' Care, I first had to ask some background questions. I asked Mrs. Green how long she has worked for the center and she replied, “I have been here over 10 years.” Then I asked her, “What made you decide to pursue early childhood education”? She stated, “I love teaching children and have always had a passion for teaching children.” I can relate to Ms. Kim because I feel the same way. I have always had a passion for working with children to teach them everything they need to know so they can transition into kindergarten seamlessly. Now when I get to the interview question, I ask Ms. Kim “What makes a good teacher” and she stated, “A good teacher helps a child learn, develop, and grow in every aspect of their life. They must be dedicated to their work and ensure that maximum attention is given to the child when necessary.” He then went on to say, “Good teachers will redirect the child from a negative situation to a positive situation, give the child extra hugs when the child needs them, focus on the child's academic achievement, and encourage the child to succeed.” I thought these were surprising answers, but we continued with the interview. The next question posed to Ms. Green was, “What curriculum is used for each of the content areas you teach”? Mrs Green said: “At Lee's Cuddles 'N' Care we use the teacher strategy curriculum called the creative curriculum. This assesses the child's growth and development in terms of literacy, numeracy, social-emotional and much more. The Kindergarten for All program uses this curriculum and covers all content areas needed by the child. Then I moved on to... middle of the paper... ding. I say this because the teacher has the power to motivate the child to read by interacting with the children while reading aloud and asking them open-ended questions, this will expand the children's vocabulary and they will learn new words. Closing the interview I thanked Mrs. Green for her time and asked her if there was anything she would recommend to me and she said, "You're a good teacher and I've been watching you as a teacher and you're doing a good job" with the children. You use the creative curriculum and follow all objectives and dimensions of the Gold teacher strategy. Assess children when necessary and look for indicators on teachers' gold strategy. I would add that you need to be firmer with the children so the children will know that you are a serious teacher.” I thanked her for the feedback and thank her again for her time.
