Paternal health summary. From the information I gathered from my father's side of the family, I found a recurring trend of cardiovascular problems on my grandfather's side and substance abuse and diabetes on my grandmother's side. My grandfather Jerry and members of his biological family suffered from heart disease in his final years; However, my family members did not eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, or undergo regular medical checkups which may be one of the causes of their heart problems. On the other hand, after speaking with my father and grandfather Jerry, I discovered that many members of the Patty family suffered from heart attacks but continued to live for several years after their episodes, but how? Maybe it's a genetic trait or it just wasn't time to leave; In any case, heart disease is a leading cause of death in my family and I will have to keep an eye on it my entire life. On my grandmother Mary's side, I see a huge amount of deaths directly linked to alcohol abuse, obesity, and type 2 diabetes; this shows that their lifestyle choices were the cause of many of their health-related problems. Since many of Grandma Mary's family members live on the West Coast, I have had no contact with them; However, my father told me that much of our family stayed away from my grandmother Mary because the health choices they made created stress in the family. This may be why I see a change in some lifestyle behaviors in my father's generation when it comes to substance abuse. On the other hand, in the case of my father and my great-uncle Don, you see that their military involvement created many of the health-related problems t... center of the card... of family members and that my theory is that depression had a big impact on the decisions my family members made. When I put both my mother's and my father's families together, I saw existing patterns in their behaviors that directly link to depression. For example, my 17 year old brother is under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and although he is young, if you look at my family history, many members of my family started abusing at a very young age, which It could become a recurring pattern in my brother's life if he doesn't find professional help for his genetic depression. My hope is that with the information from this project and course, I will be able to share with my family and my future children how genetics and health behaviors play an important role in what happens to our health, but that there is hope and a better way to manage your depression.
