Topic > A career as a teacher - 1463

“Teaching is often a difficult process, but the end result is very rewarding. Watching a child develop confidence and seeing a student progress in their studies is a very exciting process. Teaching young children is especially helpful because it lays the foundation for lifelong learning.” (Chronicle Guidance Publications). What is teaching? A teacher is a person who provides instruction to pupils (children) or students (adults) using lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations and computers to present academic, social and motor skills. Teachers can also teach foreign languages, art, children with special needs, and physical education teaching has changed a lot from traditional methods based only on lectures and textbooks. Students are now encouraged to learn actively through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates and experiments to help them in the learning process. Being a teacher would be a great career for anyone who wants to improve themselves, help people and have great benefits (news guidance publications). Prospective teachers will all be required to achieve a certain level of education and certification. Educational requirements can vary greatly by state, but all states require completion of an approved teacher training program and a bachelor's degree. Many states may require a minimum GPA and additional technology education that includes a certain number of course and disciplinary credits. A small number of states require a master's degree, requiring up to two years more education than a bachelor's degree. Other requirements could be the student teaching offered by many universities. Typically for one semester student teachers will work alongside an experienced teacher observing and helping children in... middle of paper... her. I think I would be a good teacher at any level because I feel I have a very analytical mind and I like to understand how people think and get the best out of them. I love when teachers make learning fun and I know I can be an affective teacher by making learning fun for all students. I have to admit that summer time off is very appealing, although I know teachers do a lot of it after hours during the school year. I feel like I can be a positive influence on the students who come into my classroom. One of the most memorable moments of my school life was when I was in Mrs. Husted's class. I didn't do my homework, I didn't get good grades, and I didn't do very well in his class. Despite all the challenges, through his way he always helped me, encouraged me and made sure I did the work I was responsible for. That's why I want to be a teacher to help students who were like me.
