Hemingway went to Pamplona, Italy for the big festival. He spent most of his time drinking and making friends. Hemingway was a wanderer and these experiences began to emerge in his writings. The book The Sun Also Rises Hemingway wrote about his time in Italy. A group of easy-going aristocrats decided to leave France and all its pressures and go to the Pamplona festival. They stay up all night and drink from dawn to dawn, stopping only when they pass out. They loved living like that and so did Hemingway. The party began on July 6th and people drank all day and all night for 7 days. This first novel by Hemingway is considered one of his greatest. Once again, after experiencing the horrors of war and another difficult relationship, Hemingway found peace by traveling through Europe. During this period he saw around him that many were affected by the post-war struggles. Those losing family members or families falling apart was common among his peers.
