They did not have the right to vote or function in government. Ancient Greek society dictated that a woman's job was to supervise the home. Since men spent most of their time outside of housework, women dominated domestic life. Therefore, the only aspect of life that woman had control over was her home life. They were responsible for the children, cooked, cleaned and made their family's clothes. Often there were female slaves to help the wife with jobs such as cooking, cleaning, and working in the fields. Women without slaves had much more freedom, because they had to do what slaves would do in addition to their own work. Because of this they also had a lot more work to do
