General informationThe book I read was written by Nick Hornby. The title of the book is High Fidelity. High Fidelity, Indigo, London, 1995, first printing, 253 pages. The book is a novel. First opinion I decided to read this book because some people I know told me that it was a very good book to read. I don't know much about English books so I trusted them. I really liked High Fidelity. It's the story of a man called Robert. He tells you about the relationships he has had with women. He tells you about his first girlfriend, the ones who put him aside because of another guy, the ones he still likes and the relationship he's in now. High Fidelity is an easy book to read because the language used is not very difficult. I also liked the book because it never bored me. Something always happens.In-Depth-SummaryThe story begins when Robert starts talking to us about his ex-girlfriends. Robert is a man and is in his 30s. He owns a record store called Championship Vinyl. The shop doesn't do very well, but Robert earns just enough money to keep it open. Two other men work in his shop. They are friends of Robert but are not very important to the story. When Robert finishes telling the past, a new chapter called Now begins. Laura, Robert's girlfriend, is about to leave him. Laura is a woman Robert's age and lives together with Robert in an apartment. The relationship between Robert and Laura isn't going very well at the moment and Laura falls in love with another man, the neighbour. Laura's new boyfriend has just moved to another house and she is going to live there too. After Laura leaves Robert, the latter isn't feeling very well. In his shop he doesn't talk much and can't stop thinking about Laura. He starts calling her every day. Laura gets angry at Robert and tells him to call the police if he doesn't stop. Then, one night when Robert is having a beer with his friends at the local pub, he sees Marie. She's a woman from New York and she sings songs in the pub. Robert thinks she's a good singer and buys a cassette of her songs.
