In this case, when Ophilia learns of her father's death, she goes into a deep depression. He begins to behave strangely and many people, like the queen, are crazy with grief. He sang about his father's death and how he was gone forever and would never return. (Act 4 Scene 5 page 1119). Singing, she goes in and out of the different rooms of the castle until she finally arrives dressed only in straws and flowers. He would hand them out saying they were good luck or what they represented, and then he would continue singing afterwards. The death of Polonius, Ophilia's father, had had a huge impact on her. The sadness she felt overwhelmed her, leading her to drown. (Act Scene 7 page 1130). His death shocked everyone. Not having her father around brought her to such a state of mind that made her question her own life. Perhaps due to pain and a series of confused and distraught thoughts, Ophilia went to her death thinking that she would be with her father again in heaven.
