With the dynamic development of technologies, human beings are losing intimate relationships with their friends or family. Sherry Turkle, who wrote the article “Alone Together,” believes that technological devices and new ways of connecting with others make it difficult for human beings to have intimate relationships with others. Nowadays, technological devices help people connect with others more easily. However, several hundred years earlier, at a time when people have difficulty connecting with others, they have intimate relationships. Therefore, Adam Gopnik, in the article “Bumping Into Mr.Ravioli”, emphasizes that technologies change the lifestyle and dominant idea of human beings. Nowadays, people believe that effort equals success. People want to be successful; so they don't have time to have intimate relationships. By combining ideas from two articles, it can be highlighted that technologies help people connect more easily with others and have new lifestyles and ideas. This causes individuals to connect and have intimate relationships with others as they did several hundred years before. Technologies help people connect more easily with others, but they are destroying individuals' intimate relationships. Several hundred years earlier, humans didn't have cell phones, computers, or cars, but they did have intimate relationships with friends and family. In every culture, there was a story about a person who tried his best to save his closest friends, even sacrificing his own life. As time went by, people built many new devices. They are helping people connect more easily with others. Gopnik writes that “it was trains and telegrams. The railroads ended isolation and filled the metropolis with people whose work was defined by a complicated web of… middle of paper… industry” (156). Lots of Rovioli people in our society. They are busy all day and have no space to spend time with their families or old friends. They want to be successful or they want to appear successful and they fit into this image. Technologies change the traditional ideas of human beings and mean that the individual has no space or time to maintain their intimate relationships. Technology makes it easier for people to connect with others, but more and more connections mean that people have no room to have intimate relationships with others. Technology changes people's traditional idea and makes people have no time to enjoy or maintain those intimate relationships. However, it can also highlight that if people try to live a slow lifestyle and maintain their inner mind, they will finally find happiness in their intimate relationships with their friends and family..
