Research Project Question: Through biomechanical analysis, how can I make my golf swing more like Tiger Woods'? Clarify and define the topic/question of my research project: For the research I considered topics falling within two personal interests. The personal interests I considered for further research were sports and gardening. In the field of gardening I have only considered one potential research topic: how to redesign my front garden. While I have also considered water conservation and how to protect plants on hot days in general terms, I would really like to redesign my front yard. We recently moved from a house that had a beautiful front yard and would like to find it in the house we moved into. In the field of sport I have various interests: medicines in sport, AFL, golf, cricket, tennis and injury rehabilitation. I looked at: • Drugs in sport – Research what happened at Essendon in 2012 and 2013. • AFL – The greatest girlfriend of all time, how to train effectively and how to select a fantasy football team. • Cricket – Is 20-20 ruining other forms of the game? • Tennis – Who is the greatest player of all time? Is technology ruining sports? • Golf – Comparing my golf swing to Tiger Woods. Is technology ruining sports? Of all the topics considered I have determined that comparing my golf swing to that of Tiger Woods is of great interest. I recently had back surgery and this seems to be a good time to reshape my golf swing. Tiger Woods has been the best golfer in the world for the last 15 years, so who better to model my swing after? The next question is: how do I analyze our oscillations? Biomechanics is the application of scientific principles (largely physics) to sport. So…middle of the paper…creative in the sense that I seek expert advice to assist me. I will constantly need to ask questions of experts to clarify my thinking, reflect on my thinking, and adapt and explain my thinking as I go through the analysis process. I will also have to explain how the actions I recommend in my golf swing will make it more like Tiger's swing - this will require a great deal of critical and creative thinking. I will also have to think creatively first so that I can locate the information required, but also critically to determine which search processes provide me with the best and most reliable information. To summarize, I will need to be critical and creative in the initial research phase, but I will also need to develop my thinking as I apply the information I have gathered so that it can be presented in a meaningful way.
