“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that adapts best to change." – Charles DarwinThe above quote from Charles Darwin refers to the theory of evolution, in which he deduced that creatures evolve through the process of natural selection; those that are more adaptable to the changing environment will survive and transform to better adapt to their new environment. The theory of evolution has contributed to the ongoing process and study of human development. The study of human development is unique in that it draws on life science and social science research methods and theories to explain how an individual's psychological, cognitive, and socioemotional development is influenced by biological, psychological, and environmental factors (e.g. #). Many believe that one's being is the product of "nature versus nurture." However, research and studies demonstrate that human development involves both “nature and nurture” at every stage of life. The study of human development covers the life span, from conception to death. You can experience a lifespan that spans the eleven life stages of psychosocial development. Positive resolution of psychosocial crisis at any stage of life leads to successful adaptation for optimal development (p.9). In this article, I will delve into my biopsychosocial development that has made me the person I am today. According to Erikson's theory of psychosocial development, the lifespan has eleven sequential phases starting with prenatal (conception to birth), infancy (from birth to 2 years), early childhood (from 2 to 3 years), early school age (from 4 to around 5/6 years), middle childhood (from 6 to 12 years), early adolescence (from pre-adolescent to 18 years), late adolescence (from 18 to 24 ... ... middle of the sheet ......the second turning point in my life, where I felt I had achieved my goal of getting a college degree, so I shifted my focus to the future of becoming a wife as a girlfriend was to appease my significant other , and my purpose became to nurture an already fragile relationship into a positive and healthy one. However, by putting aside my morals, values and goals, I found myself in an identity confusion, a psychosocial crisis. during this stage of life. Erikson states that during this stage, a person evaluates their identity (social role) and purpose (direction or meaning and values). The loss of one's identity is a contributing factor that leads many marriages to divorce. To solve it, I decided to regain my personality and find a meaningful career. In turn, the engagement did not survive, leading to my third life turning point.
