The way they prepare the food may be different. In the United States, we have various ways to prepare our meat instead of just grilling and stewing it. In the United States we can fry, grill, boil or bake our own meat. In the United States, we mostly eat soul food at major holidays or Sunday dinners instead of eating at a big dinner party every night like they do in Africa. Once Americanized, soul food became one of the most consumed foods in America. African Americans went from preparing only for the families that owned them to preparing soul food for an entire city. Most African Americans now as soul food businesses. But in the days of slavery, many African American women were street vendors and sold their foods. Some sold enough goods, saved up, and bought their freedom. Ever since Africans brought soul food to our country, the food has tasted better.
