Most foods in US schools are junk food. The food a child consumes at school usually makes them fat and can lead to the diseases mentioned above. Another problem with a child not eating properly is that they are not getting the vitamins and minerals they want. One change we made to provide healthy lunches was to give students a cup of fruit and an appropriately sized meal. Schuna has researched why lunches are a serious health problem and discusses ways to resolve and/or prevent these health problems. Health problems affecting students include obesity, diabetes and heart disease. This can happen to anyone who doesn't eat healthily or exercise. Students are more vulnerable to these problems due to the lack of nutrition provided by schools. Schools aren't the only thing that needs to change lunch food. Some schools in the United States provide the fruit cup, but students still choose not to take or eat it.
