Topic > Will artificial intelligence replace humanity? - 744

From the first imaginative thoughts to manipulate nature to the development of complex astronomical concepts of space exploration, man continues to innovate and invent products or methods that improve and empower humanity today. Although it took 150 million years to reach the present day, the intellectual journey was not gradual in a linear sense. If one were to trace significant events that occur throughout human existence, humanity's ability to construct new ideas follows a logarithmic path and is rapidly approaching an asymptote, or technological singularity. This singularity event pushes scientists to support and reject the concept of an imaginative plateau; the most discussed topic is Artificial Intelligence (AI). When this technological singularity is achieved, it is hypothesized that man's greatest creation, an artificial sentient being, will replace the capacity of the human brain. According to some, this event will lead to the extermination of the human race as it is considered obsolete. Still others plan a fusion between artificial intelligence and humanity, a gradual conversion of man and machine. Will the predicted pinnacle of our technical evolution be a gradual or sudden end of humanity? The technological singularity is defined by three concepts: 1.) the moment when an artificial intelligence becomes super intelligent, capable of improving itself faster than the greatest human mind, 2.) Scientific discoveries increase extremely exponentially, with the potential of new ideas every few seconds, and 3.) The point at which the future cannot be predicted any further in a scientific sense. Looking exclusively at the first concept, the technological singularity is the most urgent in today's society, especially with the multiple films depicting the apoc... middle of paper... machines will think for man. At this point a logical artificial intelligence could realize the intellectual fallibility of man and destroy the weaker species for control of resources. In other words, AI seeks self-preservation with the destruction of humanity. One poll entry responded with a side note that it might be a more thorough destruction of humanity. Man himself will destroy himself long before he is given the opportunity to create an artificially formidable or superior enemy. Regardless of whether artificial intelligence replaces humanity or not, there should be no denying that this rapidly approaching technological singularity phenomenon is reality. A great change has happened, is happening, and will continue to happen as long as the ability to learn, organic or artificial, exists. So when humanity reaches its peak and ends, it is known that it is not the end of knowledge, it is a new direction towards knowledge..
