Topic > |||The correct health development of newborns determines the general well-being of the child throughout the growth process. Children should avoid diseases and disorders that hinder their development. WIC programs, vaccinations, and early intervention measures help mitigate these risks. Vaccination is very important for children under the age of five. They save human lives. False information about vaccines has negatively impacted children in many regions of the world (Peet, n.d.). Peet (n.d.) gives examples of polio infection in Africa and measles infection in America to support his point. Vaccination protects children from deadly diseases, which kill thousands of children every year. Today, these diseases kill fewer children, although epidemics still occur due to a lack of vaccination among some children. Before turning two, children should receive vaccinations against diseases such as diphtheria, polio, measles, mumps, and chickenpox (“10 Reasons to Get Vaccinated Before Age Two,” n.d.). Information regarding understanding vaccination will help child development professionals advise parents on which vaccination to administer to their child. They will also be able to provide parents with the timing of these vaccinations. As child development professionals, they will be in a good position to explain to parents the negative effects of not ensuring their child receives vaccination. The term WIC is an abbreviation for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC programs are programs that focus on empowering women with the best ways to care for children to prevent disease. WIC programs have significantly improved children's growth and development as well as their at-risk health over the past 39 years ("Legislative Agenda," 201...... middle of document ...... ts, but the controversy persists - NYTimes.com Retrieved from http://www.nytimes.com/ref/health/healthguide/esn-vaccinations-ess.htmlStaywell, K.
