Rogerian Argument: Tropic ThunderThe film "Tropic Thunder" is a comedy about five actors who decided to create a film about the experience of a Vietnam veteran. The actors were self-centered and the attitudes made them seem fake and overly dramatic. As a last-minute hope, the director sent these five actors to what he says is where the war actually happened. Shortly after arriving in this unknown land, the director is blown up by an old mine. The actors then find themselves trapped in a real-life situation where they must use their newly learned skills to survive stuck in the middle of a dangerous drug triangle. In the film, Tugg Speedman was a declining action star who was going through a rough patch in his career after failing badly in his bid for an Oscar. Before starring in the war film, Tugg played a young man named Jack in a film called Simple Jack. Simple Jack was the movie within a movie about a mentally challenged farm boy who was left behind by a traveling carnival and was forced to love a farmer, Chet Chetkinson, and his wife, Rebecca. Throughout the film, Jack faces the challenges of rejection, but through it all, he has the courage to overcome adversity and live a happy life with his mom and his animal friends. After his film, Simple Jack, was a failure, Tugg desperately needed a hit to restore his reputation. During one of the scenes in the film, the two actors, Kirk Lazarus and Tugg Speedman, were having a conversation about why Tugg's film, Simple Jack, turned out to be a failure. (Tugg Speedman: There were moments while playing Jack where I felt... [pause] retarded. Really, really retarded. Kirk Lazarus: Damn it!
