During my observations of the weight room at McComas Gym, it was easy to understand what type of audience would be interested in my essay. Based on this audience, I developed a persona that represents the weight room community by combining many of the characteristics I observed in individuals in the weight room. My developed personality is an ideal representative of an "insider" to the weight room community, as well as a representative of my essay's audience. The type of audience that would be interested in the essay I wrote would be members of the real weightlifting community. Speaking specifically about the McComas weight room in my essay, the ideas and observations in the essay would be helpful to someone who actually uses the weight room. For example, I delve into the types of exercises the average person does. By knowing what's really happening when you're in the weight room, you can modify your workout to be more efficient, such as not basing your entire workout on dumbbell exercises, as this area of ​​the weight room tends to be very crowded. For someone who uses the McComas gym, it would also be interesting to read about all the things that happen in the weight room that they perhaps wouldn't take note of during their usual workout. By reading the essay, the reader becomes aware of all the little details about the weight room that he may not have noticed. Another smaller audience that might be interested in my essay would be people associated with the management and maintenance of McComas. . That's because everything that happens in the weight room directly impacts their work and influences the decisions they make to run the gym. Since McComas is currently under renovation... half of the paper... it's happening. For example, a new newspaper article might talk about a recent discovery in the field of supplements, which would change the type of supplements an individual would use. Preferably, the public would like statistics to back up the claims, because everyone is looking for the next thing that will give them an edge in lifting or competing. Audience is an important factor in any essay, simply because the type of audience for an essay can have a large impact on the style and content of the essay itself. By choosing to have an internal personality as an audience representative for the weightlifting community, I was able to write a focused essay that delves into different weightlifting topics. The focused essay itself would be a field study summarizing and analyzing all the data I have collected through my research, which would be relevant to the audience itself.
