Millions of literary writers around the world have had and continue to have an enormous impact on people every day. While some authors write simply because they are good at it and never figured out their true love in life, DH Lawrence discovered his lifelong passion early. Whatever he faced in his life, Lawrence was determined to write, whether his audience liked his books or not. Lawrence wrote from his high school years until shortly before his death (Radell 763-771). Throughout his life, Lawrence was immensely misunderstood as a writer. However, D.H. Lawrence is now best known for writing "series of novels that explore the spiritual and physical dimensions of human passion" (Radell 763). Radell further states that Lawrence is also known for his major novels and immensely detailed fiction stories (768). DH Lawrence compiled his works based on his personal life experiences and surrounding environment, otherwise he would have had nothing to say to his audience. In every piece Lawrence writes, he demonstrates "the humility of man as a creature who must recognize that the human self 'is not the measure of creation' and that other beings entirely different from humans have validity and right to exist free" ( Radell 769 ). Lawrence felt this was one of his difficulties when writing a story. This is because he wanted his novels to mean more than just a story; he wanted it to have an impact on someone. Little did he know that over time it would actually impact thousands of people around the world. Through his life story, published works and criticism of "Rocking Horse Winner", DH Lawrence is currently one of the greatest writers of his time and is now greatly respected where he was previously misunderstood.
