Walt Disney said "I can never sit still. I have to explore and experiment. I am never satisfied with my work. I resent the limits of my imagination" (JD). In creating Disney stories and films, Walt Disney proved himself to be a true visionary. His acclaimed imagination, however, was not always evident. It has been said that Walt was fired from the Kansas City Star newspaper due to a lack of creativity (Brown). Years later, Disney purchased ABC, which owned the Kansas City Star. How ironic that he got fired from a company because he wasn't creative enough and then ended up owning it because of his creativity. Walt Disney is one of the most significant people of our time. His distinct business acumen and abundant creativity have thrilled children for generations. Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901. His father worked there as a building contractor. He was a strict and religious man who often physically abused Walt and his brothers ("Skews.Me"). Walt's father took over a farm in Marceline, Missouri. Walt was very happy living on the farm and developed a love for animals. Unfortunately, his father's business failed and the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Walt helped his father deliver newspapers. He also worked selling candy and newspapers on trains (Barrett). Walt took drawing and photography lessons while in high school. A few years later, Walt got a job at the Kansas City Film Ad Company, where he made cut-out animations for commercials. It was there that he began experimenting with a camera and hand-drawn cell animation. Each cell had to be drawn by hand. When the ink on each cell dried, it was placed under glass and photographed.
