They go to the video and after looking at the video for a long time it was Dave who won the race by 1/100th of a second. This race was crucial for Dan as the winner of this race earned a place in the Olympics. However, between the qualifying competition and the Olympics, Dave tears his hamstring during his intense training. In a shocking turn of events, Dave was declared unfit to race leaving one place open for a sprinter. One day Dan receives a call from the Olympic organization offering him a pass to compete in the 2050 Summer Olympics in Dave's place. Dan enthusiastically accepts the offer and leaves for the Olympics. He and Reggie are in awe and can't believe it. Even though it wasn't what they imagined, they achieved their goal: making it to the Olympics. Now that he's there he wants to make the most of his situation and bring home the gold. With butterflies in his stomach he settles down in aisle 8, sweating profusely. When he hears the shot, right then he starts thinking about all the hard work he put in to get to where he is. He remembers the size he once was, along with the pool exercise of holding his breath. He hasn't forgotten how avidly he reached for air while running in Denver. With all this in mind he opened his eyes and saw himself 10 meters from the finish line
