Yet many adults continue to consider manga "junk food" for the brain. Although children and teenagers often play card games and video games based on manga, few enjoy it in its original form. Although most libraries have a good range of manga, many people in America are still woefully undereducated about this art form, which is a shame, since, as Eri Izawa writes on her website, " ...Japanese manga comes in all types, for all types." [of] people. Unlike the US, which generally seems to believe that 'comics are for kids'... Japanese mangaka [authors]... write for everyone... (there's even a category for ex-juvenile delinquent mothers !)” There is literally a manga for everyone, even though most adults, if they are exposed to it, have only seen manga like Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh! which are intended for children. In fact, manga has many different genres, including action, drama, and historical fiction. If someone doesn't like jagged hair and big, intense eyes, there are many alternative art styles. Many manga are educational – some would even say more educational than many textbooks – simply because they are so engaging. The authors incorporate detailed illustrations, interesting characters, and intricate plots into an art form that anyone can benefit from. Manga is just too good to miss! Since manga are produced or heavily influenced by Japan, they are full of foreign terms that make some people shy away. Actually, Japanese terms aren't too difficult to understand.
