Since the late 1800s, scientists have studied the phenomenon of global warming, and most have concluded that human activities are responsible for most of the warming. Human activities contribute to global warming by increasing the earth's natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect warms the Earth's surface through a complex process involving sunlight, gases and particles in the atmosphere. Gases that trap heat in the atmosphere are known as greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and fluorinated gases. Few scientists argue that the increase in greenhouse gases has not made a measurable difference in the climate. Therefore the claim that human activities are causing significant warming of the global climate is irrational. However, scientists would like to see a clear mirror image of global warming threatening our environment; if you are unsure of their observations. I would like to show you both sides of the mirror. Global warming is the increase in Earth's surface temperature due to greenhouse gases becoming trapped in the atmosphere. It's as if on a very hot day the heat gets trapped inside the car. The increase in climate temperature is due to the increase in human activities through the combustion of fossil fuels; the grave environmental threat described by Ross Gelbspan, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of The Heat Is On: The Climate Crisis. S. Fred Singer, head of the environmental science and policy project and director of the U.S. Weather Service, takes issue with his view that human activities are causing global climate warming. His books include Hot Talk, Cold Science: Global Warming Unfini...... middle of paper ......technology, energy and nation growth. These authors certainly show us different sides of the mirror on global warming. Gelbspan supports the fight against global warming, where the slightest increase in greenhouse gases will have a profound effect on the global climate that can lead to catastrophic events in the future. It also calls for the solution to reduce the emission of harmful gases and switch to eco-friendly products. Singer, however, argues that the slight increase in temperature is a natural process and will not lead to significant changes in the climate. Instead, these changes will benefit the growth of agricultural crops. He also argues that not all theory is fully understood and that the statistical data established by the IPCC is unreliable. This is a never-ending debate and all we can hope for is that our planet thrives prosperously with all its natural resources.
