CyberbullyingCyberbullying is a type of bullying that occurs with the use of any electronic technology. Cyberbullying is one of the most serious problems affecting young people today. There are different types of cyberbullying. This topic interests many people nowadays because bullying is very common and can ruin a person's life. Nowadays, cyberbullying is considered a new form of bullying. It can take place over the Internet via computer, mobile phone or any other electronic device. Cyberbullying could involve displaying any form of unpleasant words or images on the Internet for others to see. It could also involve spreading lies about the victim on the Internet. Many people are stepping up efforts to prevent bullying in the first place. About half of U.S. students are affected by traditional bullying every school day (Ross). Bullying peaks in middle school, then declines in high school. Other types of bullying may involve exchanging notes behind someone's back, whispering rumors about someone, or being threatened on the Internet. The most common types of cyberbullying include exchanging humiliating photos, cell phone pranks, cyberstalking, identity theft, online book slams, and text wars. Bullies seem scary but in reality they are the unhappy ones. Most bullies were bullied by parents, siblings, or other youth. This may lead them to bully and pick on other children. Children are bullied for thousands of reasons, none of which are valid (Hile [p. 26]). There are no causes that put a child at risk of being a bully or being bullied by others. It can happen anywhere in any city, town or suburb. It can also depend on the environment, such as groups of gays, ... middle of paper ... don't feel confident telling someone you're being bullied, so it's important to talk to people if you have any signs of it. Talking can help find out if there is any bullying involved in their life. It seems impossible to protect children from cyberbullying, but you can do a lot to prevent it. Every day, cyberbullying affects many children, teenagers and even adults. Cyberbullies think it's fun to bully others online. When a cyberbully posts something online, they don't realize the consequences for themselves. When you post something online, you need to think about how it might affect you in the future when you need to go to college or get a job. There are many ways to track down someone who is being cyberbullied, so don't try to use a fake name thinking you won't get caught. Just try to help prevent it in any way so that we can all live in a safe environment.
