JapanBy: Maritza MataIf you had a free plane ticket to go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Would it be somewhere in Brazil? Or the European country of Ireland? While these may be some of the best choices for some people living in the United States and other parts of the world, another undoubtedly common answer would be Japan. Japan is located in East Asia and has 127,103,392 citizens, making it the tenth most populous country in the world. Japan is actually an incredible place if you take into account the extraordinary environment, the inhabitants, their culture and the attractions of the nation, the answer comes very easily. For starters, Japan has a diverse physical geography. For example, it is home to multiple rivers. The three longest rivers in Japan are the Shinano River, the Tone River and the Ishikari River respectively. The length of the Shinano River measures approximately 228 miles and eventually flows into the Sea of Japan. The Tone River continues for about 200 miles, being slightly shorter than the Shinano. This leaves Ishikari as the shortest of the three, running for only about 167 miles. However, these rivers are not the only magnificent features of the archipelago. There are approximately 200 volcanoes in the country, 60 of which are active. Among these are the notable Unzen volcano and Sakurajima, which rises to an incredible height of 1,711 feet. Both volcanoes are located in Kyushu, Japan. The only difference (aside from the height) is the exact location; Unzen is adjacent to Shimabara, while Sakurajima is located near the city of Kagoshima. Due to the existence of the volcano, hot springs are located at their bases. In addition to rivers and volcanoes, Japan also contains mountains. The main mountain range in the country is the Japanese Alps, located... in the center of the map... to admire nature, you can visit Ryoanji Temple. Transformed into a Zen temple in 1405, it houses the famous rock garden, made up of small pebbles and large rocks. The day of creation, intended interpretation and creator of the sight continues to be a mystery to both natives and tourists. The latest wonderful sight found in Japan is the Tokyo Skytree. The Tokyo Skytree is 2,080 feet tall, making it the tallest structure in all of Japan! Its 29 floors serve multiple purposes, including an aquarium, a restaurant and a shopping mall. Considering all this, it's no mystery why people revere Japan. The country's incredible geography, its people and various attractions work wonders in capturing the minds of people all over the world. Japan, like all other places on earth, has unique qualities that make it an amazing place to see at least once in your life.
