Today more than two-thirds of Americans are overweight and obesity is on the rise. The United States is considered the first sickest country in the world with the largest number of obese people. While some of the causes of obesity are poor quality fast food; most people don't seem to mind and will eat it every day. The fast food industry is thriving because it knows what people want; fast, convenient, low-cost food that tastes good. While this saves Americans time and money now, it can cost people a lot of money down the road with high medical bills and even losing years from their lives. As we go through our busy days, most Americans probably don't think about how the environment we live in might be making us fat. Work stress, financial problems, little sleep and lack of exercise can all be causes that contribute to being overweight. Stress can often lead to emotional or compulsive eating.
