Topic > Benefits of the Patient-Centered Medical Home - 1059

In early evidence of the patient-centered medical home (Peikes D, Zutshi A, Genevro J, Smith K, Parchman M, Meyers D. 2012.) The purpose of their research was to see whether the patient-centered medical home aims to breathe new life into primary care and achieve better quality, lower costs and better care. This study examines the early evidence on the effectiveness of the PCMH. Their conclusion was that improving primary care is the cornerstone to achieving the Triple Aim outcomes. The PCMH is an emerging innovation and the model is growing rapidly. More in-depth evaluations are needed to provide more information on how to clarify and address the model to determine that the broad practice efforts needed to adopt the model are most effective.
