Science FairINTRODUCTIONIntroductionWhat you will find in this introduction is a summary of each element that will be discussed in detail. These topics are; discussion, analysis and conclusion regarding the different opinions on oil spills and its impact on marine life. The facts relating to the matter will be mentioned. Discussion In the discussion portion of this document we will evaluate every aspect of oil spills. The discussion will include interviews with people with expertise in the oil industry, the events that led to the spills and the actions that followed. Not only from companies but also from the people affected by the tragedy. Analysis A specific topic will be chosen from the discussion section of this document and explored in depth. This topic will cover the Exxon Valdez oil spill that occurred 25 years ago in Alaska. The cause of the spill will be discussed and the precautions taken by the company after the disaster will be analysed. Conclusion After all topics have been discussed, a conclusion will be formulated, to demonstrate to the reader the negative or positive aspects of oil spills. Discussion An oil spill is a loss of oil into the sea or onto land. This is a catastrophic event, even if caused by a human or technical malfunction, it is still a major disaster. There are several ways in which an oil spill can occur, the most common cases will be listed; mechanical failures in pipes, shipping and rail transportation… With new methods of offshore oil drilling and new modes of transportation, for these large companies came more profits but also big risk. If something had gone wrong the consequences could have been enormous and in recent decades we have realized this. The BP oil spill is an example... middle of paper... past experiences. It is necessary to keep the pressure on these large industries because they are and always have been profit-oriented, and if the public and environmentalists do not keep an eye on their actions, safety standards could be lowered. To conclude, oil spills have an effect on our ecosystem (marine life) but these disasters are preventable if the right safety measures are taken. The ecosystem will regenerate from our mistakes, but the goal is not to make the same mistake twice. Works Cited Jimenez, Jaime.
