Without an efficient and effective household waste management system, waste generated by households will have a negative impact on the environment and human health. Therefore, waste generation, resource availability and environmental conditions must be included in the development of an adequate household waste management system. Household waste can be defined as solid waste which includes waste and garbage, such as cans, bottles, clothing, food packaging, newspapers, etc., which come from private houses or apartments. Following numerous complaints about the lack of cleanliness, in the mid-1990s the federal government decided that waste management would be handled by private companies, as shown in Table 1.0 divided into four zones.
