The Roaring TwentiesLydia GarzaU.S. History 13027 April 2014The Roaring TwentiesAfter the end of World War I, Americans were happy and asked for a time of celebration. Times were beginning to change and revolutionize into an era never experienced before. Many people thought that with the end of the war things would not go so well in the United States, but the reality was that things looked much better than they expected. The end of World War I caused a boom in big news in the United States during the 1920s, called the Roaring '20s. This era seemed like a carefree era and people seemed to have more money than ever. Most of the Roaring '20s were an uplifting time for the spirit of the United States and improved American life. One of the reasons the Roaring '20s was such a great time was jazz music. The Roaring '20s were also called the Jazz Age. Jazz has influenced all of society. In one article it is said that jazz music was born long before the 1920s. Jazz music originated in New Orleans, and it is stated that when job opportunities opened up in upper states such as Chicago, many jazz members began to move there and began forming jazz bands. Jazz music soon led to many different dances that kept people going. Some of these dances that drove people crazy were “dances like the Charleston and the Black Bottom.” New York was like a magnet for many musicians from other parts of the United States.
